Mini-Implants ~ "Lock-in Dentures"
I want you to know the most exciting thing I’ve encountered in
the field of denture stability since…well it might just be the
most exciting thing period!
This simple procedure will lock in your denture, eliminating the need
for denture adhesive, and allow you to eat, talk, and smile without worrying
about a moving denture. It’s called a Mini Dental Implant, or MDI.
Unlike traditional implants that require multiple surgeries with stitches
and 4-6 months of healing, MDI’s are placed in about an hour or
two, with no cutting or stitches. You could visit me in the morning,
and go out and enjoy your favorite lunch the same day! It also works
for those with certain medical conditions that would prevent them from
undergoing a more invasive surgery, and they work in small, narrow jaws
that wouldn’t qualify for regular implants. They are also much
less expensive than traditional dental implants. The MDI System consists
of a mini titanium implant that acts like the root of your tooth and
the holding cap that is built into the base of your current denture.
The top of the implant is shaped like a ball, and the holding cap acts
like a socket that contains a rubber O-ring. The O-ring snaps over the
ball when the denture is seated and holds the denture in place. When
seated, the denture gently rests on the gum tissue while the implant
locks in your plate to resist natural lifting forces. The result: a denture
that stays put when you eat, smile and talk, with no messy, sticky denture
glue!
